I started sailing in San Francisco Bay with my oldest brother when I was six. At 16 I was sailing 
with my other brother in a Lido 14 in Newport Harbor, and then took a series of sailing courses from the outstanding program at Orange Coast College. My racing career started as I was finishing up my sailing courses – bow on a Swan 441 out of Los Angeles Harbor.
